The Works of the Law

So, just what are the 'works of the law'?
from Strong's concordance:-
WORKS: G2041
ἔργον
ergon
er'-gon
From ἔργω ergō (a primary but obsolete word; to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication an act: - deed, doing, labour, work.

Physical activity, not that of 'the spirit'. "Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin."

The 'law is spiritual'. In other words it is an attitude of the mind and nothing to do with the expenditure of energy ie.'works'.
In the AKJ the ten commandments are expressed as "Thou shalt not", see Exo.20:4 thru 17. Or in other words, 'refrain from', which is a direct instruction to cease from 'work'.

So, what were the 'works' of the law?
"Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation."
Those things were really hard work (ergon)
